Pennsylvania courts ordered closed through at least April 3, 2020

On Wednesday, March 18, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered all courts within the state closed to the public. The closures would take effect at the end of business on March 19 and last through at least April 3, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The order suspends trials that have not yet started and has big implications for both civil and criminal cases. Police and sheriff departments statewide are responding by de-emphasizing arrests for non-violent crimes.
